Fish over 800lb are regularly encountered and there is a real possibility of catching one over 1000lb (the ‘Grander’).
There is no better way to fish on the Great Barrier Reef than to do a multi-day liveaboard trip. It enables you to fish longer and be in the ideal locations to maximise your chances of catching that fish of a lifetime. The spectacular Ribbon Reefs between Port Douglas and Lizard Island offer some of the most consistent marlin fishing, incredible scenery and calm anchorages.
Your days on the outer reef usually start with waking up to an incredible sunrise, followed by a light breakfast and a swim in the reef lagoon.
Mornings will be spent light tackle game fishing for fresh bait, plus a bit of popper fishing for Giant Trevally or bottom fishing for Coral Trout, Red Emperor or Nannygai for dinner. Afternoons are spent chasing Giant Black Marlin outside the reef. In the evenings we pull into a calm anchorage behind the reef and enjoy a few drinks and a good meal whilst enjoying the sunset.
Aspro is a 40’ Blackwatch game boat and is ideally set up for 3 anglers for heavy tackle Black Marlin fishing and can take four passengers in relative comfort. Being an open bulkhead configuration you’re never far from the fishing action and can watch the baits and the bites from the comfort of the couch.

Blue Marlin can be targeted all year round on the fishing grounds wide of the reef. Although it’s not what the reef is famous for it’s still a viable option.
Our trips are all fully catered and quality tackle supplied.
All trips are subject to weather conditions and we reserve the right to cancel a trip if the weather poses any risk to passengers or crew.
